How CourtPal tournaments work

Join tournaments or learn how to organize one.

What is a CourtPal tournament?

A tournament is a competition with participants, matches and results. Use it to enter an event or organize one. It is separate from a Club, which is a sports community, and a venue, which offers courts.

For players: step by step

  1. Open Tournaments and choose an event. Review the sport, schedule, format, skill requirements and entry fee.
  2. Sign in and request to join when registration is open. Follow the event’s individual or fixed-team registration flow. A registered partner may need to confirm a team invitation.
  3. Check your registration status. Requests begin pending; the organizer can approve, reject or waitlist them. Follow any payment instructions shown for that event.
  4. Before playing, check the public tournament page for matches and standings where available, and follow the organizer’s court and check-in instructions.

For organizers: step by step

  1. Choose Create Tournament. Enter the event name, sport, format and start date, then review the setup before creating it. Your account must have permission to create tournaments.
  2. Review registrations and prepare the participants or teams. Choose the appropriate pairing and seeding settings for your event.
  3. Follow the organizer flow to prepare and generate matches. Resolve the checks CourtPal shows before starting play.
  4. Record match results, or manage scorekeeper submissions where available. CourtPal updates the bracket or standings and marks the event completed when the required matches or rounds are finished. Review the final results for the winner and placements.

Formats and group play

The current tournament choices include Single Elimination, Double Elimination, Round Robin, Swiss, Battle of Clubs, and Group Stage + Knockout. Some are under More Formats. Group Stage + Knockout starts with groups and advances qualifying players or teams to a final elimination stage. Its detailed sizing and assignment settings are for the organizer.

Common question: am I entered after requesting?

Not yet. Check for approval and complete any required partner or payment steps. A pending or waitlisted request is not a confirmed place. Match generation and scoring depend on the tournament’s format and current stage.
